In relation to Pilar García de Pruneda Trevijano’s letter ‘About the Sixth’, I only wanted to object to the phrase “the consequences of improvised vaccines are now being seen”, within a rest of the letter that has nothing to do with it. As a health professional continuously trained and working since 2012 to the current year of our Extremadura Health System, I have not seen any meta-analysis, scientific article, any presentation and (from my humble workplace) any consequences to the “improvised vaccines” to which you refer. Only common adverse effects that are just as frequent as previous vaccination campaigns. Please, let us not misinform or alarm the population with fallacies and anti-scientific arguments without compelling arguments. Let’s trust researchers and health workers, since these types of statements undermine our collective day by day. They are not “improvised” vaccines, there is a lot of intellectual and laboratory work behind them and nothing is left to chance. This is the same effort that will save the lives of thousands of babies around the world thanks to this year’s RSV vaccine. This is the same effort that has managed to eradicate smallpox or polio, among others. Let’s prevent these types of opinions from causing these lethal diseases to return thanks to misinformation and mistrust.
