The Importance of Seasonal Influenza Vaccine for 9 High-Risk Groups

King Saud Medical City advised 9 groups on the importance of taking the seasonal influenza vaccine to prevent colds as winter approaches.

Saud Medical explained that there are 9 groups most in need of receiving the seasonal influenza vaccine, as follows:

1- Children from 6 months to 59 months.

2- Pregnant women or those planning to become pregnant during the seasonal influenza outbreak.

3- People with immunodeficiency (immune deficiency resulting from taking certain medications – infection with AIDS).

4- People who suffer from obesity.

5- Companions or caregivers of people at risk of complications associated with the influenza virus.

6- Elderly people aged 50 years and over.

7- Children and adolescents from 6 months to 18 years of age, who take medications containing aspirin or salicylates.

8- Adults and children with chronic diseases, such as heart, kidney, liver, diabetes, brain, nerve, and blood diseases.

9- Residents of nursing homes and other long-term care facilities.
