Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – Former Egyptian Vice President Mohamed ElBaradei sparked an interaction between activists on social media following a tweet in which he dealt with the “first step” towards achieving recovery, which is the release of all prisoners of conscience.
This came in a tweet by Al-Barai on his official Twitter page, where he said: “The first step for any recovery is the immediate release of every prisoner of conscience… otherwise plowing into the sea… ‘Everyone has the right to enjoy freedom of opinion and expression…’ Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights “.
In a separate tweet, ElBaradei said: “It is natural in the journey of life for a person to develop and change some of his thoughts and attitudes as a result of increasing his awareness, knowledge and experience.. This is expected and required, so the year of life is change…”
He added, “But… when a person abandons values that are the essence of his humanity: honesty, trustworthiness, mercy, the sanctity of life, dignity… then he loses the most important thing that distinguishes him as a human being.”
