Why are proteins important for our body?

What happens if you eat too much protein?

Excessive amounts of protein that your body does not use are stored as fat. It can also do it LDL-cholesterol, also called ‘bad’ cholesterol, and increase the risk of developing hypertension (high blood pressure). She adds that people with health problems can also be negatively affected by excessive protein intake.

How much protein is enough?

For a healthy person, the norm is 10-35% of the daily calorie intake. About 0.8 grams of proteins per kilogram of body weight. If you exercise, you will soon need 1.2-1.4 g/kg. And if you do strength training and want to build muscle mass, it is higher: 1.6-1.8 g/kg.

So it’s important to make sure we get enough protein to stay healthy and strong. “The best source of complete proteins that are bioavailable comes from animal products,” says Sapna Bhalsod.
