Dr. Alia Al-Mahdi, professor of economics at the American University in Cairo, stressed the importance of the role of the private sector in development, explaining that there is a decline in its role and it needs support, and the state must seek its presence more.

And she added, during her meeting with the journalist Mustafa Bakri, on the “Facts and Secrets” program, broadcast on Sada Al-Balad channel, that the private sector employs 75% of the workforce in Egypt, pointing out that there are some obstacles in front of it and that facilities must be available for it, and encouraged by all means. .

She also stressed that the Supreme Investment Council must work to remove obstacles in front of the private sector, indicating that quick decisions must be issued to remove investment obstacles.

She pointed out that 62% of the credit was directed to the private sector during the past 10 years, pointing out that the negative role of the media in the dollar crisis was not good in dealing with the crisis.

She explained that the dollar crisis will be resolved when the role of the private sector is supported, noting that production and export are the key to solving the dollar crisis in the coming periods.

She also emphasized that the dollar is a commodity subject to the law of supply and demand, explaining that tourism is an important source for increasing dollar revenues.

And she stressed that it should be a plan to reduce external indebtedness, stressing that increasing the rate of economic growth will limit the external debt crisis.

She explained that raising production costs leads to an increase in inflation, noting that the high rate of inflation is more dangerous than the high rate of unemployment, and it is necessary to rely on a deflationary policy for at least a year.
