JAKARTA, investor.id – A healthy and fit body condition is certainly everyone’s dream, especially in a health emergency situation due to the current Covid-19 pandemic.
Various efforts have been made by the government and the public to overcome the pandemic, ranging from campaigns using masks, washing hands, maintaining distance, avoiding crowds, to vaccination programs that are increasingly being held.
Maintaining a good immunity is one of the main keys for the body in fighting viruses, bacteria, toxins, and harmful pathogens that may enter the body.
Medical Manager of PT Darya-Varia Laboratoria Tbk, Dr Michael Reo, said, referring to the vaccine program which has recently been increasingly intensive, it is hoped that the community’s immune system will increase and herd immunity against the Covid-19 virus will be achieved more quickly.
“What we need to pay attention to in maintaining a healthy body condition is to regularly consume nutrition and good nutritional intake every day. The post-vaccination period often makes us no longer pay attention to the need for daily nutritional intake that maintains the body’s immunity,” explained Dr Michael Reo in a press statement.
In addition, many people do not know about immunity actually. We need to understand that the human immune system is basically divided into two parts, namely specific immunity (Adaptive Immunity) and non-specific immunity (Innate Immunity). Specific immunity is an immune system that is mainly played by B and T lymphocytes in producing antibodies to fight microorganisms such as bacteria and viruses that enter the body.
Meanwhile, non-specific immunity, or Innate Immunity is also a very important thing to note.
Innate Immunity is a physical or mechanical defense, for example skin, mucous membranes, airway cilia, coughing, and sneezing which are the first line of defense against microorganisms.
“The integrity of the skin is very important to prevent microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses, parasites, and fungi from entering the body through the skin. Therefore, maintaining the integrity of the skin as the largest organ in humans is very important,” he added
Furthermore, Dr. Michael said that proper nutritional intake including vitamins C, D, Zinc, and vitamin E with appropriate doses to support the immune system should always be considered, especially in pandemic conditions like now, either before or after vaccination. Eating nutritious foods, getting enough rest, and exercising regularly is an ideal lifestyle. Consumption of vitamins and minerals that are essential for the body also needs to be done consistently so that the effects of their synergy always provide optimal benefits.
“If the nutritional intake is deemed insufficient, you can take vitamin and mineral supplements while still paying attention to the quality, safety, and halalness of the product,” he concluded.
