The Importance of Mental Health: Fedez Advocates for Increased Funding for Psychologists

“The government cannot cut the ‘psychologist bonus’. It would be like spitting in the faces of people who are suffering.” After hospitalization and returning as a judge on the X Factor, Fedez arrives in the studios of What’s the weather likethe broadcast hosted by Fabio Fazio on the Nine. And he launches his proposal, developed after the last period in hospital. “The illness made me understand the importance of time. And how much a wound needs time to be healed. And then it made me understand very much the importance of mental health and how this issue is not limited to a small elite circle, but it is truly a concrete emergency.”

The rapper also recalled his relationship with Gianluca Vialli: “When I discovered I had pancreatic cancer, the only interview I found regarding this topic was that of Gianluca Vialli. I was very lucky to have some acquaintances in common and the evening before I was hospitalized we spoke on the phone for many hours. It’s incredible how a person, who was experiencing a tragedy, took the time to give comfort to a person he didn’t know at all. This says a lot about who Gianluca was on a human level.”

Then the story of why he shared his experience: “After the last hospitalization I understood that it is necessary to tell as much as possible, to turn on a beacon: there are millions of kids who suffer from these problems, there is a very high need for psychologists : the government must not cut funding, rather it must increase them.”

Fedez artistic director and Fiorello host of Sanremo? At ‘Che Tempo che fa’ Fabio Fazio jokes with the Milanese rapper, returning to Fiorello’s joke from recent days. “I was actually sleeping, my grandmother woke me up,” he explained. “He’s not an imitator of mine, he’s a person who speaks like me. However, I agree, I like the idea.” Fiorello “is the Rai man, it would be nice to take over from Amadeus with Fedez as artistic director”, continues Fazio, teasing his guest. “I’m here, all right”, Fedez’s ironic reply, who then went on to underline: “No, I’m not going back to Sanremo”. Finally a passage on the relationship with Chiara Ferragni: “He taught me that sometimes it is better to remain silent and not respond to provocations.”

The interview was announced by the rapper on Sunday afternoon with a story on Instagram: “Sorry if I stutter, but I have never talked about some things on television.”
