INDOPOSCO.ID Maintaining a balanced nutrition is one of the keys to maintaining the immune system, not being infected with the Corona virus. Therefore, the fulfillment of nutrition for children must be a top priority.
The Indonesian Pediatrician Association said that the poor nutritional status of children is a risk factor for a child to be susceptible to infection.
“Body immunity is very closely related to whether or not a child’s nutritional intake is sufficient, which directly affects his nutritional status and endurance,” wrote IDAI through its official website idai.or.id, seen on Saturday (9/10/2021).
Nutritional problems in children today are not only undernourished, but obesity is one of the risk factors for aggravating the condition of the Covid-19 disease.
IDAI said, the main point that became the focus of attention was the accuracy of giving complementary feeding (MPASI) to children in the first 1,000 days of life.
Regulating the composition of food with balanced nutrition for toddlers, to maintain the child’s immunity to avoid various infectious diseases, including the Corona virus.
Food for children with the right nutritional composition in terms of quantity, type and frequency will improve nutritional status. This strengthens the immune system of the body.
The provision of nutrition during the pandemic must include adequate and balanced intake of macronutrients and micronutrients so that children’s nutritional needs are met.
Macronutrient intake includes carbohydrates, proteins, and fats. While micronutrients include minerals such as zinc, iron, calcium, folic acid, and vitamins such as vitamins A, C, D, E, B6, and B12.
The sources of these micronutrients can mostly be obtained from animal protein such as: chicken, chicken liver, beef, fish, salmon, sardines, eggs, shellfish and dairy products. (and)
