Vaccination is an important thing given to children to prevent various diseases. One of the mandatory vaccines is the Human Papillomavirus (HPV).

The HPV vaccine is a mandatory vaccine for the national immunization program which is subsidized by the government or free of charge. The vaccine, which is mandatory starting in 2023, is planned to be aimed at more than 2 million teenage and adult women, Mother.

This vaccine is useful for preventing cervical cancer or cervical cancer. Vaccination will also be carried out evenly in all provinces in Indonesia.


Launch from the official site indonesia.go.id, the initial stage of the HPV vaccination will target female students in grades 5 and 6 of elementary school. Each child will receive 2 doses of the HPV vaccine.

Timing of the implementation of the HPV vaccine for children

Not long ago, the Indonesian Ministry of Health announced that the administration of the HPV vaccine to grade 5 and 6 elementary school children would be given evenly from August to September 2023.

“HPV (Human Papillomavirus) vaccination is given free of charge to girls aged 5 and 6 in elementary school from August to September 2023 in all provinces in Indonesia,” wrote the Ministry of Health’s official Instagram account, @kemenkes_ri.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Health explained that giving two doses of this vaccine would provide lifelong protection to children from cervical cancer.

“By administering two doses of the HPV vaccine, it will provide lifelong protection from cervical cancer,” the upload continued.

In addition to vaccination, the Ministry of Health is also preparing a program for cervical cancer screening using the HPV DNA Test method. Currently, the HPV DNA Test is being carried out in five cities in Jakarta, namely West Jakarta, South Jakarta, Central Jakarta, North Jakarta and East Jakarta.
