These days, the annual Sustainability Arena is being held at the Clarion Hotel Post in Gothenburg with over 120 registered participants from leagues, clubs, partners, associations, the private sector and the public sector.
The sustainability arena is an initiative of Swedish Elite Soccer where the Swedish Football Association and Elite Soccer Women also participate as guests. The consistent theme of the days, in which representatives from business and the public sector also participate, is the importance of football in local society.
Sport is an important function in the building of a society, and gradually creates conditions for a good climate for good citizens to grow up in. The topics of discussion that are taken up during the Sustainability Arena concern, among other things, the role of football in society and how it can be used to create a more inclusive society together with business and the public sector.
– Together with the public sector, private sector and associational life, there is a great potential to create better societies together. To do it in the best way, we need to create long-term relationships between the stakeholders, says Beatrice Clarke, responsible for sustainability issues at Swedish Elite Soccer.
On site is Vedad Aganovic, social sustainability officer, IF Elfsborg.
– The sustainability arena is a rewarding opportunity for those of us who work with social sustainability to inspire each other and exchange thoughts and ideas about how we can together create positive change in society, he says.
Society and futures analyst Troed Troedson and national economist Ingvar Nilsson make guest appearances during the conference, where the latter is behind the report Fotbollsplanen mitt i byn, which describes the social benefit elite soccer in the country contributes every year.
1904, on June 26, IF Elfsborg was formed by 19 boys in their early teens. The association’s name was then “Borås Football Team”.
In 1906, the association became a member of the National Sports Confederation and the name was changed at the same time to IF Elfsborg.
