The Importance of Climate Consciousness in the Workplace

Tania* worked some time ago in an international bank in Switzerland for which she had to travel a lot in Europe. Concerned about the climate, she sought to find alternatives to flying. “The bank had no ecological conscience. When I said that it didn’t suit me to fly every week, they made it clear to me that we could find someone else who would agree to do it, she says. When I chose the longer train, I had to take the hours from my leisure time. And my colleagues made fun of me a lot.”

Now an employee of a Swiss bank, Tania notes that her employer is more sensitive to these issues. “The default mode of transport remains the plane, but everyone can choose what suits them and there is a desire to find alternative solutions, even if the train offer is limited. My colleagues sometimes call me “Madame Train”, but it’s still nice.”
