The Importance of Budgeting in the Debut Season of the Ukrainian Championship: Insights from Cherkasy LNZ President, Andrey Poltavets

Andrey Poltavets, President of the Cherkasy LNZ, spoke about the budget of his team in the debut season of the Ukrainian Championship and appreciated the importance of spending decisions.

Andrey Poltavets

“We have not yet considered how much money we need for the season. Every day there are some additional costs. If we sat and counted, it would take a month to count all this. For ourselves, we understand the approximate figure from and to how much it will cost us for our company.

It’s no secret that the budget of strong middle peasants is plus or minus $3 million. This is a level that will allow you to fight for the middle, for survival and, under certain circumstances, for a little higher places. There are five or six clubs with budgets of $5 million or more, or $7 million or more.

There will be an increase – 100-200 thousand. But it’s not for the whole team. There will be guys who will receive both 30 and 50. If, conditionally, today we have a contract for 100, and the guy shows that he is doing something, then we ourselves will approach him and sign a new contract, add up to 200, for us it’s not a problem.

The salary sheet, in comparison with the first league, will increase by 50-60 percent for both coaches and football players. We need the correct use of these funds, transfers, coaching decisions, and then even with a budget of 3-2 million, it is theoretically possible to compete for some high places in the European Cup. We understand that somewhere from 3 to 5 million dollars we need to spend in order for the club to gain a foothold in the UPL, ”Poltavets said.
