“The student payments that started are only for lenders who are not enrolled, that is, only students who have more than six hours will be the ones who will start with their payments” said the assistant director of the student loan program at UTRGV, Felipe Olivares.
Currently, it is known that the economy is not in favor of the Americans, with inflation prices rose, but the salary remains the same. Most students work and study to be able to cover their expenses, something that for three years they did not have to worry about.
“Students should pay attention above all when making their payments and verify that the phone number or website is correct,” added Jose Luis B. Garza.
“There are many frauds right now, it is important for students to know who their lenders are, the advice is that they go to the estudentaid.gov page, that is where the federal government stores their loan history information,” explained Olivares.
There, Olivares comments, students can see who they owe and, above all, who the lender is.
Failure to make payments on time could affect your credit history and rack up extra charges.
“The department of education is giving a little more flexibility to pay their loans, there is, for example, if they are not working there is help for them as well,” added Olivares.
