The impact of the cable internet tariff war on customers makes you fondle

Jakarta

Is growing Internet service provider (ISP) in Indonesia triggered the emergence of a fixed rate war for broadband Internet. Although on the one hand the price is getting lower, the quality of the service will decrease due to the controversy.

The President of the Association of Internet Service Providers (APJII) Muhammad Arif said there are currently 830 registered ISPs, of which three cable Internet service providers appear every day.

“The small local players play at a price of Rp. 200 thousand – Rp. 250 thousand. Even in some areas there are those who are desperate for less than Rp. 200 thousand. In my opinion, the price is close to the minimum”, he said. called Arif, Tuesday (25/10) ./ 2022).

So far, the competition between cable internet providers is still quite reasonable. However, if the condition persists and worsens, it is feared that APJII will sacrifice people who are users of the Internet service.

“If this tariff war continues, quality must be sacrificed. Like it or not, the operating costs of companies, cell phones or ISPs, are sure to rise. This price trend is indeed very close to the minimum,” Arif said.

For this, said Arif, APJII asked the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies (Kominfo) to monitor and maintain a good climate of competition between fixed broadband companies.

Meanwhile, Indonesian Telecommunication Company (Mastel) general president Sarwoto Atmosutarno said that for fixed broadband the network is open and interconnected, which makes customers tend to probe first, whether there is a network or not. and its quality before deciding to subscribe. If you have subscribed, it will be very difficult to switch to other products.

“To retain their customers, fixed broadband ISPs need to be creative. For example, maintaining quality and offering bundled packages with various streaming services to retain customers and attract new customers,” he said.
