The information available to the newspaper shows that Ukrainian customs authorities have observed a significant increase in imports. The Hungarian oil company MOL has doubled its sales volume in Ukraine in the last six months.
As “Handelsblatt” reports, MOL uses oil from Russia to a large extent, therefore Ukrainian military equipment is powered by fuel produced from Russian oil.
At the same time, companies that do not use raw materials from Russia are losing the market in Ukraine due to the fact that MOL has a competitive advantage over other European oil companies, since the Hungarian company has a special permit from the European Union to continue using Russian oil in its refineries, despite the sanctions
In December 2022, the European Union stopped importing Russian oil. In February this year, a ban was imposed on the import of Russian oil products.
The largest importers of Russian oil products are Turkey, India and China.
