The number of children using mobile phones and tablets is increasing. As digital screens take over the world, the main concern of parents is whether it will adversely affect their children’s mental health.

Social distancing and self-isolation at home has led to a two-fold increase in children’s smartphone screen time, according to monitoring app Bosco. A survey conducted in August 2020 pointed out that the screen time of children between the ages of 5 and 17 has increased.

There are warnings about the far-reaching effects of excessive screen use. These scientific studies call for age-appropriate screen limits for children, according to a study by the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Researchers also suggest that excessive screen use in children can lead to many problems such as insomnia, lack of attention and academic challenges. The British Psychological Society warns that too much screen time in children can lead to problems with attention span and memory loss.

Unnecessary screen time is bad for kids. According to research from Stanford University, scrolling from one to the other hinders cognitive development.
