A household with an average energy consumption paid 2,320 euros per year for energy in June. This means an increase of 37 percent (630 euros) compared to the same period last year.
The bill is higher due to higher energy prices and taxes. This takes into account the price ceiling. The total energy bill differs per household due to differences in consumption and contract form, Statistics Netherlands reports Thursday.
The average energy bill in June was a lot lower than in November and December last year, when it was around 3,000 euros. Due to the introduction of the price cap in January and the variable supply tariffs falling since February, the average energy bill has fallen every month this year.
The prices of the fixed and variable supply tariffs are determined on the basis of energy contracts of approximately 82 percent of Dutch households.
The total energy bill varies greatly per household. The type of house, the year of construction, the degree of insulation and the size of the house, the lifestyle, the use of appliances and the heating behavior cause major differences in energy consumption.
As a result, not only the energy bill differs, but also the benefit that households have from the price ceiling. This was introduced to help consumers and businesses pay their energy bills. It rose sharply last year due to the rapidly rising gas price.
