Yossi Yehoshua, a military affairs analyst for the Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth, said, “It is not possible to return to Metulla and Shtula while Hezbollah is there.”
Yehoshua added, “Of course there will be no tourism. No one will go out for a walk in the north while the situation is like this, after the experience.”
He pointed out, “The situation in the north is a concentration of many forces, and few Israelis.”
Yehoshua added, “Nasrallah reads, follows, and listens to what is said here, and we will not be able to end this war, while the Radwan unit is still on the contact line.”
Yehoshua believes, “Thinking about methods of work in the north is a very complicated matter, while the directives from the political level of the Council until yesterday confirm that the main effort is in Gaza. We finish the work on the Gaza front and then devote ourselves to other matters.”
In evidence of the fear that the settlers will not return to the north, the head of the “State Camp” Benny Gantz toured the “Mabuot” Hermon Regional Council and said: “Our victory will be when the residents of Pieri and Metulla return to their homes, knowing that they are safe and protected.”
For his part, David Azoulay, head of an authority on the home front in Metulla, confirmed that “the settlers of Metulla, and all the settlers of the north, will not return to the situation that existed before October 7.”
Azolari added in his interview with the Israeli Channel 13, “Hezbollah is threatening, and if it starts attacking, the Israeli army will move more forces towards the northern border. We cannot bear it, and we cannot live like this.”
He pointed out that “at least 50% of Israelis say categorically that they will not return to the northern borders if this equation does not change,” demanding that the matter be put on the cabinet table.
Azolari continued, “If what happened on October 7 had happened in the north, we would have been talking about a much higher death toll.”
The head of authority on the occupation’s home front in Kiryat Shmona, Abihai Stern, said that only 2,600 to 2,800 settlers remained in Kiryat Shmona.
The entity’s observer, Netanyahu Engel, said during his visit to the evacuated settlers to Tiberias, “The government failed to address the internal front.”
Earlier, the Deputy Chief of Staff and former Commander of the Northern Region, Amir Baram, confirmed, “The situation is very difficult, and there is pressure in hotels. Farmers cannot reach the orchards and it is currently harvest season. A solution must be found for this.”
The former Israeli Minister of Security, Avigdor Lieberman, attacked those who spoke of the long months of war, accusing them of “not living reality,” in a clear reference to the inability of the occupying entity to bear the burden of a long period of war.
Lieberman referred to the large exodus of settlers, stressing that they “will not return to their areas.”
Earlier, the Israeli Channel 12 reported that the settlements were empty about 5 km from the northern border, explaining that at least 60,000 settlers had been evacuated from the north, only 20,000 of whom were from Kiryat Shmona.
She said that the evacuation of the settlers took place “without prior preparation,” while she believed that “even if the war ended today, many would not rush to return to the north.”
Israeli media reported that “Israel is not prepared for this scale of transfer of settlers from the north and south.”
She confirmed that there was “chaos in the operations of transporting settlers from the settlements in northern occupied Palestine, amid many logistical difficulties.”
