I will never forget a scene from the series “The Price of My Life” by the writer Fajr Al-Saeed, which was performed by the creative artist Ahmed Iraj and the famous and renowned artist Heba Al-Dari, and which brought in the time of sin. that happened between the two characters in order to reach the message to the viewer, the writer, as well as the director Abdullah Al-Barrak, was happy to film a picture of the actress’s cloak falling to the ground – only, and without any engineering or imitation. vulgarity, we expressed the meaning with all the strength, depth and creativity in the presentation, and it was a symbol with great importance for affecting dignity and distorting theology.
This work was published in 2002, the golden age of satellite television and the world is open to each other, and the Internet is present in every home and cafe, but I don’t remember reading I have a single article criticizing the scene in the media or in the forums, and society did not object to the story or the artistic style that the writer followed.
So why are people angry today when similar issues are raised in the Gulf drama? Why do some artists – in defense of their work – accuse the society of being against each other and not accepting to see their faults on the screen?!
From my point of view, many of the previous works of the Gulf were not severely criticized by the public, because they were simply written in a very artistic language that respected the family of the Gulf in all age groups, and the most sensitive issues were presented in a sophisticated version. a way that made the viewer respect the work and the artist, and this is proof that we are not contradicting each other and that we are not denying our faults, but we are people with “modesty and hiddenness,” and this is an inherent characteristic of us as Gulf people, no matter how great our mistakes and shortcomings are.
I don’t want the works to be ideal and scholarly, the family can control what the members of the family watch, but when they do… In the interest of television, and to especially for the holy month of Ramadan, you must understand that you will enter every home without permission, and here you must “awaken” your artistic conscience and pay attention to the discussion of sensitive topics within the limits of tact and politeness
Do not doubt the society itself and that it has double standards because it refuses to reveal its surface wash on television channels.
If dropping the abaya “symbolically” is enough to convey the strongest messages, why do you “literally” want to drop the abayas?!
