The Impact of Celebrity Cosmetic Surgery on Society’s Body Image Standards.

Kylie Jenner of reality show The Kardashians recently pointed out during an episode that she was challenging the standards of beauty that she and her family have set up around the world, by resorting to cosmetic surgery.

Violette Cantin, interested in this reversal of the situation, turned to Andrée-Ann Dufour Bouchard of the organization ÉquiLibre to analyze the effects on society of this high visibility of cosmetic surgery.

Ms. Dufour Bouchard points out in particular that a survey by the firm Léger revealed the concern of Quebec society with regard to weight and its relationship with the body and body image. “We saw that 62% of respondents want to lose weight, regardless of weight,” she says.
