The Impact of AI on the Gaming Hardware Market: New Challenges for Gamers

After the crypto fever, developments and technologies related to artificial intelligence can tear apart the favorite hardware category of gamers

We have already buried it completely once, and followed with disappointment the complete transformation of the video card market, which was very unfavorable for gamers, which the COVID epidemic has shoveled heavily in the last three years. Some time ago, the HDR light appeared at the end of the tunnel (apparently due to the change in demand), while the two major manufacturers nicely started to reduce the prices of VGAs classified in different categories, Intel, for example, didn’t even bother with the top level and went straight to the budget-friendly indicator kneaded with the ARC cards.

It would be an exaggeration to say that this is already in Kanaan, but during the summer cucumber season, you can get one of the previous high-end specimens at a very good price. This does not make PC development a cheap pastime, but it is also not as tragic as it was a few years ago. Well, this normalization will soon be exploded by the AI craze, or more precisely by the extremely high demand for GPUs, which are part of its hardware developments.

Players-Producers: 0-2

The falling prices are not yet worth the points for the gaming community, as the current price levels could go much lower, but the manufacturers can make a big break again and drag out this “battle”. We can call it that, since the situation has become tense on both sides, there is incessant cursing and cursing on the customer’s side, while the producers retaliated with cutting statements about sacred profitability. Artificial intelligence is certainly an exciting field, but very quickly it became an ideal reason for not making next-generation GPUs available to gamers again at a suitable price-to-value ratio.

It’s just a rumor for now, but Nvidia is said to be significantly reducing the production size of RTX 40 series cards in order to give more capacity to the “Hopper” accelerators in order to increase sales volume above the average expected in the business world. This reduction may not only apply to the RTX 4090 (in fact, the manufacturer does not have any problems with the top model), but rather the production size planned for the RTX 4060 and 4070 pairs (quads), which have a somewhat poor start, would be significantly reduced. The AI revolution is a great reason, you can hide the negative decisions related to a market product that is a failure in itself.

The demand for Nvidia’s special accelerators is huge, Hopper is currently the star, which is why it is worth donating the GeForce RTX production lines

If you think that you are going to buy an AMD Radeon, then it would not hurt to be careful here, in the still somewhat incomplete product line, there is a huge demand in MI circles for the Navi 31 GPU used on the RX 7900 XTX, perhaps it is not a coincidence that the manufacturer is preparing with full steam for the launch of the RX 7800 and RX 7700, which distracts a little from the top model. In addition, the RX7900 GRE version appeared almost out of nowhere, and although it is not intended to usurp the throne, it can be an interesting market test model, with which AMD tries to strengthen the top category from the bottom, and then support it with strong, mid-range 7800s.

There is really nothing to announce officially, since everything about the RX 7800 XT has been leaked. At a good price point, the Navi 32 GPU can take the limelight away from flagships; and this is not so bad for AMD

With the reds, the message is not so direct that we will be killed, but the rumors about RDNA4 mention for the first time that there will be no top model in the RX 8000 VGA family. In other words, it will not be available to players, but Navi 41 will certainly be among the chips that speed up general calculations and AI tasks.

The exchange rate doesn’t help either

If there was a teleshop broadcast with video cards, the flashing signs saying “buy it now, don’t miss this opportunity, because it will never be this cheap…etc.”, would certainly be worth it. Even if the situation is not so dire, you can easily see that the evolution of exchange rates is not favorable for hardware purchases either, and the focus of manufacturers has once again shifted to something that has nothing to do with gaming.

Of course, you don’t need to get nervous about this, but if everything is in order for the VGA purchase, but you’re still waiting for some reason, then you should look around the current offer and choose a purchase that’s right for you.
