Studies show that the age difference between partners can determine how long the relationship will last.
Dating someone much older or younger will always be a surprise, while for some it will be the perfect “recipe” to find a suitable partner.
Although there are exceptions, research shows that couples with large age differences are much more likely to divorce than those who are more similar in age.
A study conducted at the University of Atlanta in the USA analyzed 3,000 people. The researchers concluded that couples with a five-year age gap are 18 percent more likely to divorce compared to couples who are the same age.
Couples with a 10-year age gap are 39 percent more likely to divorce, and this rate rises to 95 percent in cases where there is a 20-year age gap between the partners.
The researchers also found the ideal age difference between couples to be one year. Then the chance of divorce is only three percent.
