I’m not saying that one is better than the other.
It’s a different experience.
..
With projection (especially in a bat cace) you don’t actually see anything other than the screen. No speakers, no furniture, no distractions. This means you are completely sucked into the image. An image that looks very calm, because it concerns reflective technology. And the best resembles what you get in the cinema. “This is what it should look like.”
This is in contrast to a TV; a large glass plate through which light comes out. You bet you won’t feel like looking at 115 inches in a completely darkened room. And certainly not at a short distance. For example, I am sitting at 2.85m looking at a 100 inch projection. No problem.
You place a TV like this in the living room, with daylight or ambient light on. That makes it a different experience. Less immersive.
What you prefer is personal.
One is not better than the other.
That’s what I mean by “a TV cannot replace a projector”
But I don’t think you’ll really understand that until you’ve had a projector in a batcave
EDIT: I am now watching the LTT video, but Linus is watching in a darkened room…
He also talks about “squinting”.
Pfff… Didn’t see me
