The illegally placed plaque on the Monument to the Soviet Army in Sofia can be removed within days, said the mayor of the “Sredets” district, Traicho Traikov, in the “Day ON AIR” studio.
“The order to remove the plaque was not carried out within the period for voluntary execution by the regional administration, now we are in time for it to be forcibly removed. The chief architect of the Metropolitan Municipality must order this to be done – he will ask for a bid and assign it to the municipal company” Sofinvest”. If you ask me, it’s a matter of days, it could happen tomorrow or the day after,” Traicho Traikov is convinced.
He specified to Bulgaria ON AIR that the people who allowed the removal of the plaque with the inscription without building documents and permission were sanctioned.
“I can’t take down the monument, I can help in every way so that the trend is not lost – both with the fence and with the scaffolding and with the removal of the plaque. What I have heard as a commitment, the actions are followed,” Traikov added.
He also commented on the request of the candidate for mayor, Vasil Terziev, to make “Maria Luiza” a pedestrian zone: “When something is done that will benefit more citizens of Sofia, it cannot be done at the expense of the people who live there”, categorical was Traikov.
