The next mircoles 4 de mayo, the specialized magazine Horticultura, publication of Interempresas Media, organizes the II Technical Journey of Aguacate with the objective of offering the keys that surround sustainability in this subtropical crop considered to be of high value.
The day will be inaugurated by the Mayor of Velez-Malaga, Mr. Antonio Moreno Ferrer and the Councilor for Agriculture, Jos Mara Domnguez, together with the Director General of TropsEnrique Colilles, and be coordinated by David Pozo, director of the Interempresas Media Agro-Food area.
In the first block of the day, the opening speech will be given by Carolina Dawson, Specialist in sustainable value chains for tropical crops, who will analyze the current situation of both fresh and processed avocados worldwide.
Subsequently, Elsa Martínez, head researcher of the Ifapa en Mlagafocus his presentation on a vital aspect for the avocado producer, such as efficiency in the use of water.
In the second block, after a round table and coffee-networking, Iaki Hormaza, Research Professor at the CSIC and head of the Department of Subtropical Fruit Growing at the La Mayora Institute of Subtropical and Mediterranean Fruit Growing in Malaga (IHSM La Mayora), will focus on explaining the adaptation challenges of all avocado varieties to the new climatic conditions.
Next, experts from the companies Brandt Europe, EuroChem Agro Iberia y regulator They will present in three talks their main novelties at the level of fertilization, irrigation and plant health in avocado cultivation.
