The Antoni Maura secondary school (Palma de Mallorca) has been characterized for years by pedagogical innovation. He has achieved this with an educational project that uses resources such as gamification, robotics or ICT as a teaching tool.
This time, that center has gone one step further and has achieved a single digital platform that unifies learning and communication between students, teachers and parents. And all this thanks to Microsoft technology which, in the words of its Head of Studies, Laura Monzó Lozano, has made the center now have a “single platform to implement an efficient and stable organizational structure. Before we had different non-connected platforms, something that made it difficult to access information ”.
Thus, by way of example, the IES Antoni Maura has adopted Microsoft Teams in order to carry out effective coordination and collaboration, establishing a virtual learning environment; OneNote, which has become a digital notebook for the student and a resource of great potential for teachers, who can collaboratively design educational resources; Microsoft Stream, as an environment to share videos safely and create video tutorials; and Microsoft Forms, for the design of forms and questionnaires.
And it is that, the Antoni Maura institute considers the digitization of the educational center and the development of digital competence really important, both teachers and students. Currently, their students have personal laptops in the classroom to complement their activities and access digital resources, which are managed and secured through Microsoft tools. In fact, they do not use textbooks, neither physical nor digital (with some exceptions). In addition, they are committed to continuous and personalized communication and interaction between students and teachers.
All as a result of the IES Antoni Maura’s commitment to Microsoft tools for their usability and versatility, both for the student and the teacher; the ease of personalizing learning and its cost. This step towards digital transformation has allowed to foster teamwork and build digital competence.
“The new approaches we offer go beyond the methodological, since they imply a different way of approaching the curriculum and seek the training of students both academically and also in emotional aspects to promote the full development of their personality in collaboration with families. We will continue consolidating the lessons learned and advancing on a path of innovation, which prepares our students to face the challenges of tomorrow, in which Microsoft tools have become great allies ”, says Laura Monzó.
