Barcelona’s new coach is Ariel Holan, a 63-year-old Argentine with international experience. He will replace Diego López, who decided to terminate his contract early after a meeting with the Canarian leadership. Holan will arrive with his team on Sunday to start working on Monday. Despite the extension of López’s contract until 2025, his performance in the Liga Pro and Copa Libertadores has led Barcelona SC to seek a change of technical direction.
Holan has managed teams such as Defensa y Justicia and Independiente de Avellaneda in Argentina, as well as Santos from Brazil, León from Mexico and the Universidad Católica de Chile, where he obtained several achievements, including titles such as the Copa Sudamericana and the Suruga Bank. In addition, Holan has experience as a field hockey coach and was the coach of the Uruguay women’s team in that discipline.
