The iconic Rockefeller Center Christmas tree arrives in New York

New York, Nov. 12. The traditional Rockefeller Center Christmas tree, one of the great symbols of festivities in New York, arrived in the city this Saturday to begin being decorated for its lighting on November 30th.

The spruce, more than 25 meters tall and weighing about 14 tons, landed in the Big Apple after a journey of about 320 kilometers from the town of Queensbury, in upstate New York, where it was felled this week.

The tree, aged between 85 and 90 years, will be decorated with 50,000 multi-colored LED lights and a Swarovski star in use since 2018, weighing 900 pounds (408.23 kg) and 70 spikes covered in 3 million crystals . .

The New York Christmas icon will light up on November 30 in a ceremony which, like every year, will be broadcast live on television. EFE extension
