The famous store, which sold designer clothes, shoes, accessories and other fragrances at unbeatable prices, will reopen in the spring of 2023 at its former location in Downtown.
Century 21 will reopen in New York in 2023
Essential, favorite or even reference in New York, Century 21 has acquired international notoriety after its appearances in pop culture, in particular in the series “Sex and the City”.
In Century 21’s 60-year history, the brand has closed twice, once after 9/11 and then again during the Covid-19 pandemic. But just like New York’s resilience, Century 21 will return to its original Downtown address within a year.
Prior to its closure, Century 21 had 13 stores – mostly in and around New York – and employed more than 1,400 people. The brand went bankrupt in September 2020, seven months after the start of containment, in New York.
As in its initial DNA, the brand will offer a wide variety of designer clothes for men, women and children from next spring, as well as shoes, outerwear, handbags, accessories and fragrances. However, the downtown store will be much smaller, occupying four floors of its former location, three fewer than before. But good news is still good news.
The Gindi-owned family business is teaming up with the Legends company to reopen the single site, a move that aims to bolster Century 21’s online presence.
