Oh and such most anticipated anime this season, top sequels and such, adaptation of popular video games and such… For me, next to Tomo-chan is a girl!, Koori Zokusei Danshi to Cool na Douryou Joshi (The Ice Guy and His Cool Female Colleague) was one of the most anticipated manga adaptations.

I simply LOVE this manga. It is one of those mangas that skim the subgenre Iyashikei but more focused on romance and comedy, not being categorized as true Iyashikei but keeping the heart-warming narrative.
It is a tender work that accompanies the day-to-day life of a group of workers in a firm (as it happens in Wait e My Senpai is Annoying); in a universe where it is normal to exist humans descended from gods/spirits of Japanese lore. There are no battles, there is no action, it is simply “what would the day-to-day life of a descendant of yuki-onna look like today”, in the case of our protagonist Himuroor the spirit of the fox, like the Chambers. This is all side by side with 100% humans and everyone with the same difficulties and experiences.
Being a romance, then we have our wonder couple – as the title shows, literally – Himuro and the beautiful, calm and “cool” Fuyutsuki-san. Sweet Himuro falls in love almost instantly, sensible Fuyutsuki we can see her slowly wanting to know more about the department’s cutest snowman.
It could have been a little better… or my expectations were too high!
Unfortunately, as with Tomo-chan is a girl!, the animation is average. The difference is that here we have fantasy in the mix which, in my opinion, entails another type of demand on animation. Maybe they are the standards which are starting to get higher and higher – and having just watched works by studios like KyoAni e MAP – which lead me to turn up my nose at what is presented to me and to expect more.
It’s not that it bothers you, or that you think we’re distracted because something isn’t going so well, it’s a disappointment in the expectations that I personally, as a fan of the manga, feel. However, the animation is average but consistent, as is the soundtrack, the opening it’s the ending I even like it a lot. Let it stay that way, at least!

Is The Ice Guy and His Cool Female Colleague worth watching?
“Ah, look at a snowfall on the corner! Himuro must be the one to make a more difficult report!”
It’s this kind of interaction that we see and it’s the sweetest thing ever! It’s a series to make us melt – literally in the case of Himuro – of happiness.
Will it always be like this? Yes go. This will be the formula from the start: Himuro and Fuyutsuki trying to create some interaction between the two and colleagues appreciating the romance. Everything leads to believe that there will be more couples to form – the company must be run by a descendant of Cupid – throughout the episodes and we will get to know our protagonists better. It’s part of the generic trope, but that’s not why it’s any less enjoyable to watch.
In short, if you like this kind of fluffy romantic comedies where everything good happens, no love triangles, stresses or challenges to be overcome in order to be together, this work is for you.
It’s simply a good feeling anime to savor at the end of the day and go to sleep with a smile on their lips.
