The ICC’s Elite Panel of Umpires Welcomes Two New Members as Aleem Dar Resigns – Asianet News

Dubai: Aleem Dar, who was the ICC’s elite umpire for 19 years, retired. Aleem Dar has experience of leading 435 international matches. Aleem Dar officiated the finals of the 2007 and 2011 ODI World Cups and the 2010 and 2012 Twenty20 World Cups.

Aleem Dar started his career as an ICC umpire in 2000 by officiating ODI matches. Dar is the first umpire from Pakistan to be included as an umpire in the ICC’s elite panel. Aleem Dar has officiated in 222 ODIs, 144 Tests and 69 T20Is in his career and has officiated in five ODI World Cups and seven T20 World Cups. He won the ICC David Shepherd Trophy for the best umpire in 2009, 2010 and 2011 consecutively. Dar thanked the ICC, Pakistan Cricket Board and his colleagues on the ICC panel for giving him opportunities.

Meanwhile South Africa’s Adrian Holdstock and Pakistan’s Ahsan Raza have been added as elite umpires. With this, the number of umpires in the ICC Elite Panel has increased to twelve. Holdstock and Ahsan were the umpires in the 2021 and 2022 Twenty20 World Cups. Holdstock has so far managed five Tests, 42 ODIs and 48 Twenty20 Internationals. Ahsan has managed 41 ODIs and 72 international T20s.
