The current Hyundai Ioniq 5 is offered in two battery variants. The smaller one has a capacity of 58 kWh, the larger 73 kWh. The weaker variant has an output of 214 hp and the stronger 300. Hyundai, however, will increase the battery capacity of the stronger variant to 77.4 kWh as part of the update.

Hyundai has not yet specified the exact details of the drive, but said that even weaker variants will remain on sale. In addition to capacity, the South Korean carmaker will add an automatic battery temperature adjustment function to the new battery for better charging even in the heat.

In addition to updating the battery, Ioniq will also receive new shock absorbers to improve driving comfort and stability. Drivers will then be able to choose whether to equip the Ioniq 5 with digital mirrors, both side and interior.

“The segment is increasingly competitive and we will offer enhanced features to defend our position as a technology leader in the automotive industry,” said Andreas-Christoph Hofman, Hyundai’s Vice President of Products and Marketing.
