The school shooting in Texas took 21 lives – 19 children and two teachers.
One of them was Irma Garcia, who was trying to protect the students at Robb Elementary in Uvalde, as the suspected perpetrator entered the school and started shooting around him.
Shortly after the incident, her husband Joe also died of a heart attack.
according to ABC News the couple was to celebrate a silver wedding later this year. The channel has had the passing confirmed.
The couple leaves behind four children aged 13, 15, 19 and 23.
The nephew writes on Twitter that he thinks her husband died of grief.
– It is extremely heartbreaking, and it comes as a deep sadness that my aunt’s husband has passed away as a result of the grief, it says in the post.
At the time of writing, the post has received over 150,000 “likes” and has been shared over 30,000 times.
