The Hunt for the New York Scammer Targeting Elderly Adults for Theft

The New York police are on the trail of an alleged scammer who tricks older adults into stealing their belongings.

So far, the woman is accused of committing at least six robberies in Queens and Brooklyn.

According to witnesses, the suspect approaches people over 80 years of age to ask them for money for her son and then takes the opportunity to distract them and steal their bracelets and other jewelry.

The first robbery was reported on September 24 when the suspect intercepted an 83-year-old woman who was walking on 101 Avenue in Queens.

The alleged thief approached the victim and took jewelry from her that she was carrying.

A couple of days later, the woman spoke with another 84-year-old victim from whom she removed gold bracelets and replaced them with jewelry.

That same day he robbed an 86-year-old woman under the same modus operandi and took her gold necklaces and bracelets.

In total he has robbed six people in the last three weeks, all in the Queens and Brooklyn area.

The authorities point out that the alleged criminal flees in a white SUV vehicle, so they ask for the community’s help to find the woman’s whereabouts.
