Erzsébet Szentirmay was born in Zalaegerszeg in 1928, and she only got to know tennis after she was twenty years old. He started playing tennis at a serious level at BVSC, where the coaches there laid the foundation for his later success.
During his career, he won four world championship titles, eighteen world championship medals, six European championship gold medals and several national championship titles. He achieved his greatest success after the age of 55, in the oldest category. He competed in almost every country in Europe and won over fifty championships. He traveled to most of the races in his own car and started with his own finances.
The European Tennis Association selected Erzsébet Szentirmay as the best female player in the 90+ age group in 2021. In 2015, the MTSZ presented the athlete with a Lifetime Achievement Award.
According to his memories, he tried tennis with the encouragement of a female colleague, he borrowed the first equipment from Uncle Zinger, who worked on the court, and immediately fell in love with the sport. He soon had a coach and began playing professional tennis at BVSC in addition to his job at the railroad.
