Szijjarto once again reiterated that Hungary “condemns aggression”, but the war in Ukraine is not a war for Hungary, so Budapest will not supply weapons and vote for energy sanctions.
He believes that the Hungarian people supported this position in last Sunday’s elections, which were won by Prime Minister Viktor Orban’s ruling party.

Szijjarto “understands that Ukraine had a different interest, and does not argue with it.” However, he considers unacceptable “statements about the establishment of totalitarian regimes, complicity in the war and regret about the will of the Hungarian people.”
“It’s time for Ukrainian leaders to stop insulting Hungary and recognize the will of the Hungarian people. To make it all clear and understandable: this morning we invited the Ukrainian ambassador in Budapest to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade,” he said, without specifying whose statements caused such discontent .
