In light of the war, the Israeli bombing that has continued for 28 days, and the collapse of the health system, thousands of people with serious and chronic diseases in the Gaza Strip are facing double difficulties, as expressed by some patients.
One of the kidney patients confirms that the continuous Israeli bombing on various areas of Gaza prevents him from going to the hospital to receive treatment, and due to the lack of transportation, he is forced to walk on a road full of danger and death. “Either you die from the kidneys or you die from the bombing.”
In one of the hospitals, a child is lying with signs of fatigue and exhaustion evident on his face. The sad thing is that this child lost his mother, sister, and brother in an Israeli bombing, and only his brother, who is no more than 17 years old, remains with him.
A woman who is caring for this child in the hospital describes that his situation is very difficult, as the death of his mother affected him greatly. He was undergoing dialysis 3 to 4 times a week.
Patients are suffering from running out of materials necessary for their treatment, and even dialysis sessions for kidney patients have begun to decrease in duration, as they used to last from 4 to 6 hours, but currently they last from 2 to 3 hours.
Patients also suffer from a lack of safe drinking water, forcing them to drink salt water, which causes health complications, according to what one patient said.
It is noteworthy that the Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip announced earlier the “total collapse” of the health system in all hospitals in the Strip.
