Huawei Watch Ultimate is official. It will be the first smartwatch with satellite connectivity. In other words, it will be the very first smartwatch capable of sending SMS without requiring an LTE connection.
Recently, many brands have been pushing satellite connectivity feature in their smartphones. It is considered a feature that allows users to communicate when they find themselves in emergency situations. But the technology hasn’t reached smartwatches yet. Well, the Watch Ultimate is going to take the lead in that regard.
What satellite features will the Huawei Watch Ultimate bring
Huawei made headlines when it launched the Huawei Mate 50 series. It was Huawei’s first line of smartphones with satellite connectivity. And with Watch Ultimate, Huawei wants to extend the functionality to its range of smartwatches.
Huawei hasn’t officially released details on which features the Watch Ultimate will fit. For example, there is no confirmation if the watch will allow you to receive satellite calls. However, one thing is certain: you can send two-way SMS via the feature.

But the lack of official information hasn’t stopped fans from making concept render videos. Take HoilNDI’s concept video, for example. The user took past Watch Ultimate leaks and made an intuitive video.
Apart from Watch Ultimate, Huawei is also working on the Watch 4 series. Although Huawei has not released any design details of the Watch 4 line, fans are expecting a lot from it as well. However, we know for sure that the watches will ship with HarmonyOS.
But we may soon see smartwatches in all their glory on March 23. Otherwise, Huawei has another launch window open for April. And, of course, if we get more information about the smartwatches before those dates, we’ll let you know. So stay tuned.
