The Houthi attacks worry the G7 states. They agreed on a permanent solution

Italian transport minister Matteo Salvini, whose country will hold the G7 presidency in 2024, informed the journalists about this, Austrian television ORF reported on its portal.

Thanks to this format, according to Salvini, the G7 group does not need any other formal meetings, but can also communicate by phone in case of emergency.

Salvini also pointed out that the Houthi attacks are having a significant impact on the economy, as many merchant ships now take the much longer route around the southern tip of Africa instead of the Red Sea and the Suez Canal, increasing the cost of transporting goods. “The problem is that this price increase will affect consumers,” he stated.

In their joint closing statement, G7 transport ministers called on the Iranian-backed Goose to “immediately stop attacks on commercial vessels.” They appealed to the Iranian government to stop supporting the geese and their attacks on merchant ships.
