The House of Representatives ‘accidentally’ votes for higher salary for healthcare

Due to a mistake by a member of parliament of the ChristenUnie coalition party, a small majority of the House of Representatives voted on Tuesday for a structural increase in the salaries of care workers.

A motion by PVV leader Geert Wilders thus got 69 MPs behind him, while 67 MPs voted against.

The Member of Parliament in question is Stieneke van der Graaf (ChristenUnie). She says that she unfortunately voted in favor of the motion. Party member Joël Voordewind said immediately afterwards to President of the Lower House Khadija Arib that Van der Graaf “was deemed to have voted against the motion”. However, the comment does not change the result, but is included in the official report.
