17.27 Edoardo Affini tried to anticipate the sprint with a sprint from the finisseur 600 meters from the finish. Nizzolo was the first to react. He started very long, 300 meters from the finish. But it was an imperious sprint, he won clearly in front of the surprising Affini! 3rd Peter Sagan.
17.24 After 11 second places, Giacomo Nizzolo finally won a stage in the Giro d’Italia. Nobody deserved it more than him! Really great, it was time!
17.24 NIZZOLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO !!!! NIZZOLOOOOOOOOOOOOO !!! HA VINTOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO !!!! GRANDISSIMOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO !!!
17.24 AFFINI TRY TO ADVANCE THE GROUP!
17.23 Viviani is well positioned today.
17.22 LAST KM! In front of Bora and Jumbo-Visma, but also the Cofidis!
17.22 Sagan and Groenewegen go up. Watch out for the Dutch …
17.21 2 km to the finish, very long straight!
17.21 Fernando Gaviria’s UAE arrives in front. With the Colombian the wingmen Richeze and Molano.
17.20 3 km to the finish, from now on the gaps will be neutralized in case of falls.
17.20 Ganna piloted in front of Bernal.
17.19 Now the DSM to pilot the platoon.
17.19 5 km to the finish.
17.18 Nizzolo who had been very nice before the departure: “I point to 2nd place“. He joked that he was, up to now, an eternal squad.
17.17 Now Giacomo Nizzolo’s Qhubeka Assos is brought to the front.
17.16 COMPACT GROUP! Fugitives resumed 7.3 km from the finish.
17.15 Take Rivi, it’s the last flash in the pan before the inevitable reunion. Marengo and Pellaud respond.
17.15 For Italy it would be wonderful if Elia Viviani, the first cyclist in history to be awarded the role of standard-bearer at the Olympics, wins. It would be a great way to celebrate.
17.14 In front of Peter Sagan’s Bora-hansgrohe and Elia Viviani’s Cofidis.
17.13 The moment of glory of the attackers will still last a few km. 21 ″ of advantage.
17.12 Ten km to the finish!
17.10 The platoon gets up and the advantage of Pellaud, Rivi and Marengo rises to 17 “.
17.09 Always 14 ″, the group does not want to catch the fugitives too soon.
17.08 10 ″ for Marengo, Rivi and Pellaud. They never really believed they could do it.
17.07 15 km to the finish.
17.06 Friends of OA Sport, today is the classic transfer stage. Then from tomorrow onwards, finally, there will be no more breath … Climb at will!
17.05 Now only 14 ″ for the fugitives, who will soon be reabsorbed.
17.03 Puccio, Moscon and Ganna escort Egan Bernal in front.
17.01 The margin of the leading trio drops to 29 ″.
17.00 20 km to the finish.
16.59 Davide Gabburo (Bardiani CSK Faizané) slightly stretches at the head of the group to go to greet his relatives.
16.58 In this Giro d’Italia, in stages like the one today, the same teams are always on the run, or the three Italian Professionals, and always with the same riders. It’s certainly not a pretty sight to behold.
16.57 The advantage of Rivi, Marengo and Pellaud goes back to 41 ″.
16.56 The three fleeing are kept in a bain-marie waiting for the skirmishes to light up in view of the sprint.
16.54 The advantage of Umberto Marengo (Bardiani-CSF-Faizanè), Samuele Rivi (EOLO-Kometa) and Simon Pellaud (Androni Giocattoli – Sidermec) drops inexorably. They only have 20 ″ on the platoon led by the sprinter teams. – 24 at the end.
16.51 25 km to the end and only 30 ″ of advantage for the three brave of the day!
16.48 40.8 km / h is the average after four hours of racing.
16.46 We reiterate once again the names of the three fugitives: Umberto Marengo (Bardiani-CSF-Faizanè), Samuele Rivi (EOLO-Kometa) and Simon Pellaud (Androni Giocattoli – Sidermec).
16.44 Meanwhile the sprinters’ formations begin to be organized.

The presentation of the eleventh stage – Today’s dirt tracks – The path of the second week – The chronicle of the tenth stage – All rankings – Who can win the Giro and who is out – The bag of favorites after the first week
Hello everyone and welcome to our LIVE LIVE of the eleventh stage of the Giro d’Italia 2021: the Perugia-Montalcino, 162 kilometers long. Named Wine Stage of this edition of the Corsa Rosa, today’s fraction is characterized by a challenging route with an altitude that presents almost 2500 meters in altitude, with 4 sectors of dirt road which as a whole they propose 35 kilometers of dirt roads in the last 70.
The first sector of ‘white roads’ will be that of Torrenieri at kilometer 93.2. Exceeded Buonconvento e Bibbiano, will meet the second dirt sector of Castiglion del Bosco (km 110), as well as the flying finish line, which presents a level crossing before crossing the Ombrone stream. Subsequently, the double climb to the Passo del Lume Spento, Third category GPM almost all in dirt, which will be tackled from two different sides. The first measures 13 kilometers at 3.6% with peaks of 16% in its first part; all on dirt roads until the last kilometer before the brow.
It will then come down on Montalcino and at the gates of the city will take place for Castelnuovo dell’Abate, where is the second flying finish line, before the last two dirt sectors. After Tavernelle the road will rise markedly until it reaches the GPM of the Passo del Lume Spento with its 9.3 kilometers at 4.6% with peaks of 12% in the final part on asphalt, to then reach the finish line.
On this day as a Classica, Italy could play some excellent chances with great experts of the caliber of David formolam (UAE Team Emirates) and the winner of the Tour of Flanders 2019 Alberto Bettiol (EF Education Nippo). The first, among other things, is just over a minute late from the top of the general commanded by Egan Bernal (Ineos Grenadiers). Bettiol, on the other hand, showed up at the Corsa Rosa with a good condition, especially uphill, which, combined with his great ability as a finisseur, on his home roads, could prove to be the winning key of the day.
And what about Bernal himself, who at the last Strade Bianche obtained a third place which, in today’s perspective, makes many of his opponents tremble for the pink jersey who will hardly be able to distance him. Therefore Remco Evenepoel (Deceuninck-Quick Step), Aleksandr Vlasov (Astana-Premier Tech) e Giulio Ciccone (Trek-Segafredo) they will have to be alert.
Speaking of other finisseurs of the day, the triumph of Foligno should not be excluded Peter Sagan (Bora-hansgrohe) if not the blues Gianni Moscon (Ineos Grenadiers), Gianluca Brambilla (Trek-Segafredo), Andrea Vendrame (AG2R Citroen Team) e Fabio Felline (Astana-Premier Tech).
OA Sport offers you LIVE LIVE full text of the eleventh stage from 12.30. Good fun!
