LILLESTRØM/OSLO (Discovery):
Norway’s hottest derby is approaching. On Sunday, Vålerenga travel to Åråsen to meet arch-rival Lillestrøm. On that occasion, the LSK camp takes the liberty of sending a few jabs in the direction of the arch-rival.
– There are many people there who pretend that the derby means a lot to them, and then they come from completely different places than Oslo. Not that it doesn’t matter, but here we have gradually got a lot of locals into the team, and we are the ones who know how a real derby feels on the body, says Henrik Skogvold to Discovery.
It is voiced by centre-back Bauta and teammate Ruben Gabrielsen.
– We are local players here. That is the difference between us and Vålerenga. They don’t have anything local, says Ruben Gabrielsen, who himself was born and raised on Lena in Østre Toten.
– For them it is a battle for three points, for us it is a completely different battle. For us, it’s about what we grew up with and what we want to do for the city. They are going to say they need three points. For us, it is a completely different table and a completely different league, continues the centre-back.

Comes with answers
In the Vålerenga camp, they are not significantly impressed by the statements.
– It’s typical Gabrielsen, that. He doesn’t know what he’s talking about. I think Vålerenga is the team with the most playing time for young talents, so he doesn’t know what he’s talking about, counters Fredrik Oldrup Jensen.
Vålerenga’s midfield veteran points out that Gabrielsen himself has chosen to leave Lillestrøm for another Norwegian club in the past.
– He has probably gone from LSK to Molde himself, so I don’t think he will talk too much. We’d rather take it on the field.
At the same time, he comes with a jab at the arch-rivals in return.
– I guess I have the feeling that LSK always has a kind of inferiority complex towards VIF, so it is not surprising that they are talking now, says Oldrup Jensen.

Hope they keep the place
A win for Lillestrøm will not have much to say for the table position. “Fugla” is in 7th place. They are a point behind Sarpborg 08, but the distance to the top four is 12 points. Down to Odd in the place behind, they have five points.
Vålerenga, on the other hand, has everything to play for. The royal blues from the capital are in 12th place, only three points above relegation and the point above the qualification place.
Thus, a VIF loss on Sunday could mean that they end up below the relegation zone if other results go against them.
Nevertheless, the sporting situation of the arch-rivals is not something that Lillestrøm uses as motivation.
– First of all, you have to think about winning that match. If they get further up or further down the table, it’s not that dangerous. This game must be won regardless of where the teams are in the table, says Mads Hedenstad Christiansen.
– Do you hope they will be relegated?
– It wouldn’t have been wrong if they moved down either, but it’s a cool match. I think everyone would be disappointed if you don’t get two of these matches every year, the goalkeeper continues.
One who, on the other hand, likes to stick even more sticks in the wheels of a limping VIF team, is Skogvold.
– It would certainly not have done anything (to worsen the crisis). I hope it happens.
But like Hedenstad Christiansen, he is not very keen to let go of the derby matches next year.
– In any case, I hope to get them into the qualifiers, so that they get a slightly shorter holiday and a slightly longer season. It wouldn’t have been stupid, the young attacker continues with a twinkle in his eye.
