The hottest day of the year so far was recorded in Great Britain today, the British Meteorological Service reported, BTA reported, referring to Reuters.
According to preliminary data from the National Weather Service, the maximum temperature at London Heathrow Airport was 32.7 degrees today. The previous high for the year was reached on Thursday this week when a maximum temperature of 32.6 degrees was recorded. Meteorologists note that this is the sixth day in a row that Britain has recorded a temperature above 30 degrees, well above the average for this time of year.
Record heat on the Island
Last week, Britain’s Met Office announced that the summer of 2023 was the island’s eighth warmest since 1884. June was the country’s hottest on record, followed by a wet July and fluctuating temperatures in August. In July 2022, Britain saw its hottest day on record, when temperatures exceeded 40 degrees for the first time.
