The hottest planet in the solar system is not Mars, although it is often dubbed the red planet.

Reported NASA, 15 April 2022, hottest planet is Venus with a temperature of about 464 degrees Celsius (867 degrees Fahrenheit).

Although Mercury has a temperature of 427 degrees Celsius and is closer to the sun, it is the second hottest because Mercury has no atmosphere and thus experiences temperatures that vary widely throughout the day.

Quoted from NASA, Venus’ thick atmosphere traps heat and creates an uncontrollable greenhouse effect.

This causes the planet Venus to become the hottest planet in the solar system with a surface temperature hot enough to melt lead.

The greenhouse effect makes Venus about 700 degrees Fahrenheit (390 degrees Celsius) hotter than it would be without the greenhouse effect.
