The Alicante Hotel Association fears that the recent restrictions to fight the pandemic, such as the curfew, or the worsening of Spain’s qualification as a safe destination in different European markets, will slow down the arrival of international tourism in the month of August. .
For this reason, the employers are committed to being prudent and evaluating the forecast for this month of August every week and had hopes of the reactivation of the international market as of July 20.
However, they consider that the increase in restrictions could make “British tourists think about it before booking in Alicante.” In any case, the president of the association, Victoria Puche, points out that they are waiting to see what will happen to last minute reservations.
Even so, he does not expect a reactivation of the international market, but one must be attentive, he warns, to the behavior of inland tourism, in which they have all their hopes placed.

Less pessimistic are shown from the Costa Blanca employer’s association, HOSBEC. Its president, Toni Mayor, indicates that the season is being better than last year.
Mayor believes that the new restrictions will affect other types of tourist establishments, such as apartments or campsites, more than the hotel plant in Benidorm.
