The horrors of war in Gaza
An explosion at a hospital in Gaza City has derailed US diplomatic efforts aimed at averting a humanitarian disaster in Gaza and cast a dark shadow over President Joe Biden’s upcoming visit to the region, so Biden will meet only with Israeli representatives today. A planned Jordan summit was canceled as protests spread across the Middle East, according to “The Guardian“.

Gaza’s health ministry claimed more than 500 people had been killed at the hospital. “Hamas” blames Israel for the explosion, while the Israeli military has announced that the militant group “Islamic Jihad” is to blame. Islamic Jihad also denied responsibility.
In a statement late Tuesday, Biden said he was “outraged” by the hospital bombing and that he had ordered his national security team to gather information about the incident.
The hospital bombing has sparked anger across the region, sparking protests across the Middle East.
Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi told Al Jazeera that the planned summit with Biden was canceled because “now there is no point in talking about anything other than stopping the war.”
Safadi said the meeting would take place at a time when the parties could agree on “an end to the war and massacres against Palestinians”, blaming Israel for its military campaign of pushing the region to the “edge of the abyss”.
Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has published on its “X” account the converted call of “Hamas” terrorists, where they discuss the failed “Islamic Jihad” rocket launch in the direction of Al-Ahli Hospital.

The call is about a missile that hit the hospital. They point out, “It looks like we own it!” “Couldn’t it really have found another place to explode?” “They launched it from the cemetery behind the hospital. It was mislaunched and landed on them.” The conversation further specifies and describes the location from which the rocket was launched.
The press secretary of the Israeli army, Daniel Hagari, has shown pictures in a press briefing, in which he claims that Israel did not strike Al-Ahli Hospital, but that the explosion was caused by an unsuccessfully launched rocket near the hospital. A military spokesman told reporters there was no structural damage around the hospital buildings and no craters consistent with an airstrike. The spokesman accused Hamas of causing the explosion and increasing the death toll.
The LETA agency reports that the Israeli army has repeatedly called on civilians in the northern Gaza Strip to evacuate on Wednesday, in preparation for a possible ground attack.
The army said Gazans should evacuate to open areas west of Han Younis, adding that international humanitarian aid would be delivered to Al Mawasi.
On October 7, the Palestinian militant group “Hamas” carried out an unexpected attack from the Gaza Strip, firing several thousand rockets and infiltrating several places in the territory of Israel. More than 1,400 people have been killed and about 4,000 injured in Israel’s attack by Hamas.
Israel responded with counterfire and has deployed troops and military equipment to the border of the Gaza Strip. At least 3,200 people have been killed and 11,000 injured in Israeli bombardment of the Gaza Strip, according to the Gaza Ministry of Health.
Palestinian authorities have announced that hundreds of people were allegedly killed in a rocket attack on a hospital in Gaza City on Tuesday. Hamas, the ruling militant group in the Gaza Strip, claimed that the explosion at Al-Ahli Hospital was caused by an Israeli airstrike, but Israel said that the hospital was hit by a rocket fired unsuccessfully by the Palestinian militant group, Islamic Jihad.
Bordered by Israel to the north and east and Egypt to the south, the Gaza Strip is home to approximately two million people.
