The Taliban are storming house after house in search of Afghan traitors, BBC correspondent Georgina Ranard reported. She spoke with an Afghan interpreter who served alongside the British army during the fighting in Afghanistan.
Ali fled the Taliban after receiving numerous threats. The British government gave the green light to him and his family to move to the Island, but not to his parents and brothers.
He desperately calls for them to be evacuated, fearing for their lives.
“One night a stranger on the street called me by name. He was with the Taliban and said he knew I was working with the British. It was a big shock to me. They know everything … You know what will happen to me,” Ali told Bi BBC.
“I served with the British forces, I am proud to have served with them. My family is in danger, but they (UK) do not give visas to my family. Then who will get them? Movie stars or politicians? They they have enough money for such a settlement all over the world, I thought, why don’t they help interpreters who have served with the British forces?
I cannot be happy that I have permission to go to Britain while I am worried about my mother, father, my brothers, who are hiding because of my actions.
In the past I never wanted Britain to help my family, but now, if I go, how can I sleep at night? How long can my family be hiding? ”Ali said.
