The Horrific Sighting of a Blackhole Sucked Out the Stars

Jakarta

Curious how blackhole sweep away the stars? This simulation might give you an idea. Through simulation, there are a number of virtual stars created to fight black holes. This simulation was carried out by researchers from the Max Planck Institute for Astrophysics, Germany.

It depicts how much the black hole’s gravity stretches, distorts, and disrupts these stars, some of which literally crushes them into streams of gas.

Black hole is a very dense place in space where the pull of gravity is so strong that even light cannot escape. Because black holes are invisible, astronomers have to prepare special equipment for spacecraft to find objects of great power in this universe.

The simulation, led by theoretical astrophysicist Taeho Ryu, an expert at the institute, ‘carries’ eight stars of different sizes and densities towards the black hole. This virtual blackhole then attracts stars. The size of these virtual stars varies from one tenth the mass of the sun to 10 times its mass. Each turned out to have a different interaction with the black hole’s gravity.

In simulations, it appears that some stars are completely separated and cannot re-form as they move away from the black hole. However, the others are only partially disturbed, and their own gravity pulls their pieces together again as they exit the black hole. It was later discovered that the star’s ability to reform seems to depend slightly on the mass of the simulated star.

This simulation is the first of its kind to combine the effects of Einstein’s general theory of relativity with simulated stars that have realistic internal structures. It is hoped that such virtual simulations will help astronomers gain further understanding and a clearer picture of how interactions work blackhole throughout the universe.

Side note, team study It also looks at other factors that affect simulated stars and their ability to maintain or regain their shape, namely different black hole masses and variations in the approach of the star to the black hole. Each factor has a different effect on tidal disruption, or the breaking up of stars into bursts of gas. Thus launched, Pop Science, Wednesday (1/12/2021).
