The Home Affairs Ministry of Indonesia organized a national coordination meeting in Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi to strengthen the sociocultural resilience of the country before the 2024 General Elections. The meeting invited related ministries, institutions, governors, district heads, mayors, and stakeholders to discuss maintaining social harmony for a safe and peaceful election. Director General for Politics and General Administration at the ministry Bahtiar stressed the importance of focusing on the sociocultural aspect ahead of the elections because it highly influences national politics and the economy. Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian appealed to regional governments to help maintain harmony and diversity to prevent conflict that can harm national unity. Southeast Sulawesi Governor Ali Mazi thanked the Home Affairs Ministry for holding the national coordination meeting in Kendari city, saying the event can positively impact the region’s economy. The 2024 General Elections are scheduled to be implemented on February 14, 2024.
