The Holy Synod issued an official announcement after the adopted Law on Amendments and Supplements to the Law on Preschool and School Education. Yesterday, after nearly three hours of debate, the parliament adopted a change to the Law on preschool and school education proposed by Vazrazhdane.
It prohibits the promotion and incitement in any way, directly or indirectly, of ideas or views related to non-traditional sexual orientation or determination of gender identity other than biological.
“The Holy Synod of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church – Bulgarian Patriarchate expresses its gratitude to the people’s representatives for the agreement reached on values of general importance for the Bulgarian society, such as the upbringing, education and protection of the children of Bulgaria,” the announcement says.
“We are satisfied with the legal prohibition in the system of preschool and school education of actions related to carrying out propaganda, promotion or incitement in any way, directly or indirectly, ideas and views related to non-traditional sexual orientation and/or determination of gender by identity other than biological,” the Holy Synod also wrote.
